Arson is one of those things that I honestly never thought I would be concerned with. We’ve got a rehab going on that is 90% of the way complete. I got a call from my contractors this morning that the police were on our job site. A home two doors down was torched over night. LEO’s were under the impression that it was most likely the owner (trying to get the insurance proceeds) but asked us to keep an eye out.

Which made me realize, I didn’t know if my commercial policy covered arson. (Talk about a sketchy question to ask your insurance broker.) Apparently a good deal of plans cover accidental fires but not “intentional fires”. My particular broker has this coverage under acts of terror. Fortunately for us it’s actually something we were already covered for. When you’re involved in Real Estate one of the most intelligent things you can do is find reasonable ways to mitigate risk. Roof
